Ventilation is probably the most important greenhouse control,
essential in revitalizing, cooling and dehumidifying. An air exchange process:
-
replaces warm moist air inside the greenhouse with cooler,
often drier, outside air.
-
provides a fresh supply of carbon dioxide to plants for growth
-
helps prevent diseases that start in stagnant air.

We've included the ventilation you need to get started. Sunshine GardenHouse greenhouses include two automatic, heat activated vent openers to provide outstanding natural ventilation. Automatic roof and back wall vent openers provide the ideal low to high airflow. Automatic operation helps avert the disaster of burning every plant by forgetting to ventilate on a hot day, particularly when used with mist systems and/or shade cloth. |

In certain climates or growing environments, you may want to supplement with a powered circulation fan, or, for maximum air exchange and carbon dioxide replenishment, an shutter fan kit such as the one left.
Each of these fan choices can be controlled with timers and/or thermostats. The appropriate forced air fan for you, if any, will depend upon your local climate, your chosen greenhouse
temperature, and your plant selection. While more circulation
is usually better, you can always start small and add ventilation as needed. |
We are often asked what accessories a new greenhouse gardener should start with. We recommend at least the following: Shade Cloth
Clip-on or Vornado Circulation Fan Min/Max Thermometer. |
