OUR MODELS
Halls Cold Frame
Kits and plastic glazed cold frames provide an economic alternative to the
conventional glass models; they are easy to relocate as the garden season
changes and offer total safety to households with children.
Two models are available: Single
cold frame, glazed with polypropylene, has 2 sliding and hinged vents and is
supplied complete with anchor stakes. The double wide kits were introduced with
the single cold frame as an economic and safe glazing option. The double cold
frame features polypropylene glazing and is equipped with 4 sliding and hinged
vents and anchor stakes.
Farm
Wholesale provides you with lightweight, yet sturdy and easy to prop-up
models for working under and adequate ventilation. Ample work space is available
in the large-sized unit. When raised up on self-supporting legs, your 4'
tomatoes can easily be protected from early frost.
Perfect for starting seedlings or
holding off the winter frost a little longer, these kits give you all the
benefits of greenhouses in a portable, convenient unit. Larger than most - one
unit is 8' long, 6' wide, and 34" high. This unit has ample storage space for
those prized summer plants that you cannot bear to let wither away with the gray
winter ahead. These kits use the same steel-reinforced PVC pipe and 3.5 mm
double-walled corrugated plastic panels as the full sized greenhouses. The
panels transmit 75% soft diffused light with a 2.5 R insulation factor.
Cold frames are bottomless boxes
with a removable tops. They are used to protect small plants from wind and low
temperatures. No artificial heat or manure is used inside a true cold frame, but
many gardeners experiment with a variety of soil conditions. Utilizing the sun's
heat, the soil inside the box is heated during the day and gives off its heat at
night to keep the plants warm.
You can do many of the same
things you do in a greenhouse. You can sow summer flowers and vegetables weeks
before outdoor planting. Often, you will gain sufficient time to grow an extra
crop. You can start vegetables, annual flowers for fall and winter, and
perennials for next year's bloom. Plants are protected from harsh weather and
will grow to transplant size quickly.
